The wildly popular “The Pursuit of Wisdom” series of free online courses presented by the faculty of Ave Maria University returns with a new course, “Catholic Bioethics: Current Issues,” which provides a clear and compassionate understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Church on how to handle issues, such as prenatal diagnosis and end-of-life care. The course, taught by Dr. DiAnn Ecret, associate professor of nursing at Ave Maria University, delves into the essence of what it means to embody Christ’s compassion, particularly in caring for the vulnerable and sick.

Ave Maria University is excited to announce two gifted new leaders for the Office of Advancement: David Costanzo, who will serve as the new Vice President for Advancement, and Jim Thomas, who will serve as the Associate Vice President for Advancement, effective February 11, 2024. David Costanzo has more than 16 years serving at the highest levels in advancement at Christendom College and The Cardinal Newman Society. He has built incredible teams and has a wealth of experience in higher education fundraising, development strategy, and advancement leadership. Jim Thomas comes to Ave Maria with more than 30 years in fundraising, most recently from the Archdiocese of Detroit, Michigan. He has extensive experience fundraising for programs of academic excellence and distinction, including the University of Michigan Health System. He also has served at the highest levels in leadership roles in advancement at institutions that include Western Michigan University, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, and Sacred Heart Major Seminary. Both David and Jim have proven leadership ability, a keen mission focus, and a collaborative approach, positioning them to effectively lead the Office of Advancement with professionalism, competence, and a spirit of servant leadership. Their deep commitment to the Catholic faith, academic excellence, student success, and community engagement aligns with Ave Maria University’s mission, vision, and values.

After graduation at AMU, Anthony moved to Boston and researched Alzheimer’s for several years. It was during that time that Allison and he got married. She graduated AMU in 2009. In 2017, Anthony received a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Boston University Medical School. After that, he moved back to Minnesota for about 5 years, and worked at Mayo Clinic until they began forcing employees to take the covid vaccine. After Mayo Clinic, he began full time consulting via AJ Consulting Company, doing DNA analysis with a focus on health optimization and disease prevention.
