Counseling Services

Counseling Services

Counseling is provided free of charge for AMU students. We assist students looking for support related to stress and time management, anxiety, depression, alcohol/drugs, conflict resolution, eating disorders, relationship issues and more.

Adaptive Services

If you're a student with a disability, you can request accommodations for your needs. AMU is committed to ensuring that each qualified individual with disabilities has an equal opportunity to participate in all education- and employment-related programs and services at the University.

Additional Resources

Student Support Services is dedicated to helping Ave students become Ave graduates! We offer a wide variety of support programs, services, and activities in the Canizaro Library. These services include:

  • Advising for undeclared students
  • Academic counseling to help each student perform to the best of their academic ability
  • Academic planning and determining progress towards graduation
  • One on one and group tutoring - Find a tutor
  • Assistance with papers
  • Early Warning System to identify struggling students
  • Support for freshman and transfer students as they transition to coursework at AMU
  • Time management assistance and help to create individualized study plans

Alexandra Baalman is a Student Support Services Advisor. She earned a B.A. in Literature with a minor in Theology from Ave Maria in 2025. Alexandra is passionate about mentoring students as they discern academic pathways and navigate university life with confidence.

Jenifer LeCompte, M.A., Director of Adaptive Services, providing accommodations to students with documented disabilities. Born and raised in Levittown, Pennsylvania, Jenifer has lived in Naples, Florida for the last 10 years. She graduated from Kutztown University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Special Education, and then earned a Master's Degree in Education Administration from Gwynedd Mercy University. Jenifer spent over 20 years in Special Education classrooms in Pennsylvania and Florida. She now feels blessed to come to Ave Maria and works to level the playing field so that every student has an equal opportunity to succeed academically.

The Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) Reporting Form is a tool for reporting individuals exhibiting concerning behaviors.
