BROAD LEARNING THROUGH A CATHOLIC LENS

Our Core Curriculum consists of specific courses in the great Liberal Arts tradition, including theology and natural science. Comprising one-half of your overall education, the Core Curriculum will not only build your general understanding of a variety of topics, but it will also give you the chance to encounter God and His creation more completely.

Every student at Ave Maria University takes required courses from our Core Curriculum. These courses enrich the mind while encouraging discussion among professors and fellow students. Take a look at the breadth of core courses you’ll take while at AMU:

  • Math Requirement (MATH 110, 150, OR 151)
  • RETP 101 & 102: Rhetoric and Poetics I and II
  • HIST 101 & 102: Western Civilization I and II
  • Foreign Language I (& II for some majors)
  • THEO 105: Sacred Scripture
  • THEO 205: Sacred Doctrine
  • PHIL 205: Nature and Person
  • PHIL 206: Ethics
  • POLT 203: American Civilization
  • Natural Science with Laboratory I (& II for some majors)
  • Theology Capstone (THEO 400, THEO 305, THEO 315, or THEO 390);
  • PHIL 300: Metaphysics (except Nursing majors)
