MichAel Sugrue LEGACY FUND

HONORING BELOVED AMU HISTORY PROFESSOR

Dr. Michael Sugrue was a legend.  A larger-than-life figure, he inspired a generation of Ave Maria students to love the Liberal Arts, the Great Books, and the history of Western Civilization.  He joined the fledgling university in 2004 as the first chair of the History Department. For the next 17 years, his inspirational teaching transformed the lives of undergraduate students hungry for knowledge of the Western tradition, or as he put it, “all the best that has been thought and said.”

A product of the Ivy League, Dr. Sugrue generously shared his erudition with students and colleagues and helped make Ave Maria University into what it is today.  We believe that the best way to honor his memory is to dedicate academic activities including an annual lecture series in his name for the edification of future students, faculty, and donors.

To this end, donations made in honor of Dr. Sugrue will benefit the History Department at Ave Maria University. Thank you for your generosity.
