Welcome to another edition of the Ave Maria University Weekly Recap, where we look back on the highlights of the past week ’s campus events, including Household Trivia Night, the lacrosse game, and a presentation with Dr. Miravalle!
Household wine and cheese night brought households together for some friendly competition sponsored by Campus Ministry and President Middendorf. Præcursores Verbi Men’s Household won first place, with Fiat Voluntas Tua in second and Fishers of Men in third. It was a great night of fellowship!
The Gyrenes ended non-conference play with a win against the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels, 16-11. The scoring went back and forth between the teams, but AMU was able to maintain a winning lead. Orianna Eldrige and Audrey Mazurczak led the team, each with three goals and an assist. Abbey Seiler and Lily Hynds also had three goals with Hannah Shaffrey and Claire Ichniowski rounding out the scoring for the Gyrenes with two goals each. The Gyrenes now hold a record of 3-3 and are moving on to start Sun Conference play. Wish them luck!
On the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Dr. Mark Miravalle gave a talk titled “Meet Your Spiritual Father.” The goal of the talk was for students to entrust themselves—as Jesus did—to the Just Man, the Blessed Virgin Mary’s most chaste and humble spouse and our spiritual father. What an amazing way to celebrate this great saint’s feast day!
