learning goals

Goal: Students are tasked with working in a fast-changing corporate environment where critical thinking and analysis across many disciplines are necessary. The Applied Chemistry BA major aims to provide a rigorous and modern introduction to the chemical sciences in an environment that incorporates classroom teaching and practical instrumental expertise. Together, these strategies and opportunities foster the development of independent thinking and complex problem-solving skills.to be an effective scientist. In addition, the student will be able to develop proficiency in another discipline/s that will provide the student with a well-rounded educational portfolio for a variety of professions.

Outcome 1: Students will demonstrate the ability to reason effectively based on accrued knowledge in chemistry, mathematics, biology and physics, drawing together concepts from across these disciplines to solve complex real-world problems with a Catholic perspective.

Outcome 2: Students will demonstrate an ability to apply chemistry to real-world scenarios.

Outcome 3: Students will demonstrate mastery of both the execution and understanding of major experimental techniques and instrumentation employed in chemical inquiry.

Outcome 4: Students will demonstrate the ability to digest and critically analyze experimental data with a particular emphasis on recognizing the strengths and limitations of data when drawing conclusions. Students will learn to appreciate how scientific models are constructed from raw data.

Outcome 5: Students will demonstrate technical expertise in another discipline if a minor is chosen, drawing relationships between chemistry and these disciplines.

BSN HANDBOOK

clinical requirements

The successful completion of the AMU BSN program includes the completion of clinical activities at established by our Clinical Agency sites. Failure to complete clinical activities would result in not meeting course and end-of-program student learning outcomes, thus rendering the student unable to complete the program, graduate, and be eligible for NCLEX-RN testing.

Nursing students must meet requirements established by the Clinical Agencies to attend clinical. The student must remain compliant with all requirements throughout the duration of the BSN program. These are the requirements (subject to change):

Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) Immunizations
Varicella (Chicken Pox) Vaccine or blood work showing immunity to Varicella
Tetanus-Diphtheria-Acellular Pertussis (Tdap) Immunizations
Annual Physical
Annual Tuberculosis (TB) Screening (2 PPD or 1 IGRA)
Annual Influenza Vaccine (religious or medical exemption available)
Hepatitis B- 3 Dose Series or Completed Hepatitis B Vaccine Waiver Form
