Our identity
Materna Vox Caritas
A women's household at Ave Maria University
The Materna Vox Caritatis household, inspired by St. Mother Teresa, St. Gianna Molla, and St. Cecilia strives to grow in the virtues of charity, motherhood, art, and music. We aspire to emulate the maternal voice of charity that St. Mother Teresa so beautifully portrayed and called us to “do small things with great love.” As a sisterhood we focus on the importance of dying to ourselves for others and committing our time, gifts, and talents to those most in need, especially the unborn. St. Gianna’s words that “love is the most beautiful sentiment the Lord has put into the soul of men and women,” inspires us to embody both the spiritual and literal love of a mother where we give more than we receive and love all children of God. St. Cecilia, the patron saint of music and a martyr for Christ, said, “we lift our hearts in joyous song to honor Him this way,” using music as a testimony of undying faith. Together as a household, we strive to embrace our gifts to glorify God in maternal acts of service.
