The Saint of the Gutters

A Sacred Space of Living Memory

“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples.” The mission of the Mother Teresa Museum is to educate visitors about the life and legacy of Mother Teresa and inspire them to make her spirit of love and service a part of their own lives.

Thirty Panels, One Extraordinary Life

The Museum offers students, tourists, pilgrims and locals the opportunity to learn more about “the saint of the gutters” in a 3,000 square-foot space. Over 30 panels, in both English and Spanish, tell the story of Mother Teresa’s life — identical to those used by the Missionaries of Charity in their exhibit in Calcutta. On display are handwritten letters by Mother Teresa, a crucifix from her own rosary, stunning photographs, and original publications from her state funeral in India and her Beatification and Canonization at the Vatican.

Our Story

A History of Devotion

The Mother Teresa Museum first opened in a temporary location on April 2, 2014, commemorating the ninth anniversary of the death of Pope Saint John Paul II, a close friend of Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta. In January 2019 the Museum moved into its current home in the Thomas and Selby Prince Building. Sister Mary Prema Pierick, Superior General of the Missionaries of Charity, attended the inaugural opening, and distinguished visitors have included Vice President Mike Pence during his March 2019 campus visit.
