At Ave Maria University, qualified high school students have the opportunity to enroll part-time while completing their high school graduation requirements — experiencing authentic Catholic higher education before they ever receive their diploma.

Eligibility

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Must maintain a grade of C or higher in all dual enrollment courses
  • All eligibility questions reviewed by the Admissions Committee

Course Load

  • Begin with one course per semester
  • After earning a B+ or higher in at least one course, up to two courses per semester
  • Must maintain a B or higher to continue taking two courses
  • Maximum of eight (8) AMU courses total

Application & Enrollment

  • Tuition-free for all dual enrollment students
  • Applications must be submitted by July 31
  • Students later seeking a degree must submit a new application

Academic Standards & Conduct

  • All dual enrollment students are held to the standards of the AMU Student Handbook and Honor Code.

  • Grades, attendance, and academic progress are reported on an ongoing basis.

  • Courses are generally limited to the 200-level and below; 300-level courses are not available to dual enrollment students.

  • Students registering for mathematics must complete the AMU math placement exam prior to enrollment.

Can dual-enrollment students take classes online?
No. All dual-enrollment courses must be attended in person on the Ave Maria University campus.
Is there a registration deadline?
Yes. All applications must be submitted by July 31, 2026.
Do I have to complete the Math Placement Exam?
Yes. All students registering for mathematics must complete the AMU math placement exam prior to enrollment.
How many courses can I take?
Students begin with one course per semester. After earning a B+ or higher in at least one course, students may take up to two courses per semester. To continue taking two courses, students must maintain a B or higher in all dual enrollment courses. The maximum total is eight (8) AMU courses through the program.
What grade must I maintain?
Students must maintain a grade of C or higher in all dual enrollment courses.
