Rome Study Abroad

Ave Maria University's Study Abroad Program in Rome focuses on furthering students' academic and spiritual growth. Students have the opportunity to live, study, and pray in the heart of the Eternal City during the semester that works best for them: fall, spring, or summer.

Courses are taught by experienced on-site faculty who have years of experience living, studying, and leading students in Rome. Classes meet four days per week, allowing students to balance academics with immersion in the city and exploring its surrounding regions.

Yes. The Rome program is designed to keep students on track for graduation. Students earn 12–16 AMU credits.
Rome has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm falls and springs. Expect average temperatures ranging from the mid-50s to mid-70s°F during the academic terms. Comfortable walking shoes and light layers are recommended.
Absolutely! Classes meet four days per week, leaving three-day weekends open for independent travel. The program also includes a group pilgrimage to Assisi, with optional trips to Florence and Orvieto. Rome's central location and extensive rail and air networks make travel throughout Italy and Europe easy and affordable.
