Clubs & Organizations - Old
A student organization is defined as a group of students joined in the pursuit of a common purpose, guided by an approved constitution under the direction of chosen or elected officers, advised by a faculty or staff member, and officially recognized by Ave Maria University through the Office of Student Life.
Students are urged to take an active role in student organizations, since such activity contributes to their total education as a whole person, and the educational goal of Ave Maria University.

| tennis club |
The purpose is to grow in fellowship while enjoying the physical benefit which the tennis game will bring. The tennis club will provide an opportunity for tennis players, as well as those interested in becoming tennis players, to compete against one another in a friendly setting. |
| loopy productions |
| --Loopy Productions purpose is to consolidate Ave Maria students, staff, and faculty interested in films in order to display and discuss independent films that are beneficial for Catholics to watch. In addition, the club will inspire young Catholics to enter the film projection industry. The films and optional discussions will serve as forms of evangelization |
| Poetry Club |
| --This club wishes to foster an interest in the composition and appreciation of poetry that is a lively part of the Catholic culture among Ave Maria students and to start this interest with a wider AMU community by holding regular workshops and holding monthly seminars |
| yearbook |
| --a group of students, staff and volunteers spend countless hours of editing, picture taking, writing and formatting. This organization is good for anyone with an interest in publications or skills in communications. |

| chastity team |
 The purpose of the Chastity Team is: •o To live out chastity in our own lives through the way we dress, speak and through our behavior. •o To support each other as a team, and school, to strive towards purity of mind, body and soul. •o To evangelize the virtue of chastity to our community, and especially our campus, through our example. •o To host activities on campus that promote chastity such as a fashion show,speakers, and videos on chastity •o To evangelize to high school students and youth groups about the virtue of chastity through presentations of skits and testimonies. |

 Every friday night a group of students gather and have fun with swing dancing. |
| Sodalitas Pontificis Sancti Gregorii Magni |
To cultivate and restore traditional Catholic piety, practice and devotions unto the glory of God, the honor of His saints and the sanctification of ourselves,, the school, and the society at large by educating the student body in the "virtues" of the traditional Roman Liturgy, to increase the solemnity of newer forms of worship and advance modesty with regard to the Liturgy. |
| Latino Club |
| To bring together all students, including those with Latino heritage, to promote a better understanding of the Latino people, culture, and history among its members and the Ave Maria community. This includes serving the Latino student body of Ave Maria, according to their particular needs and interests. |
| fine arts club |
Fosters student appreciation of the fine arts through attendance at operatic and symphonic performances as well as visits to historic and art museums. |
| the academy |
| To provide an atmosphere in which students are able to inquire together about the most fundamental questions of human life, and share their experiences in the pursuit of wisdom, both human and divine. We will meet weekly and have guest speakers to speak on a variety of topics |
| Faith in Action |
| --to provide AMU students opportunities to use and develop skills in teaching the faith. Furthermore to provide a community which prays together and learns from each other of those interested in this ministry. Faith in Action will work with a youth group on a regular basis to assist them in strengthening their community and prayer. |
| Habitat for Humanity Outreach |
| -Every week a group of staff, faculty and students will assist Habitat for Humanity in building homes for those in need. It is a great outreach program which allows those who participate an opportunity and learning new skills. Whehter it is painting the house or hammering nails into the walls. Everyone participates in this great endeavor! |
| Immokalee Outreach Club |
•We attempt to reach out to the community of Immokalee in hopes of establishing a long and lasting relationship by helping with daily needs (ex. Gardening, painting, cleaning.) We have a few contacts that we get in touch with in order for this ministry to be successful |

| Operation Prayer Packages (OPPS) |
a prayer team for our troops overseas. A support organization that will send care packages to our troops stationed overseas during the holidays. This group will also hold fundraising events to raise money to construct and mail the packages. |
| Hiking and Mountaineering Club |
 The Hiking and Mountaineering Club serves to grow in brotherhood, appreciation of creation and most importantly conversion in Christ by organizing trips to the mountains that gives the group on a campus a fun and edifying break from school |
| Communion and Liberation |
An ecclesial movement whose purpose is the education to Christian maturity of its adherents and collaboration in the mission of the Church in all the spheres of contemporary life.This group will meet and discuss Luigi Giussani's writings and how they pertain to our life and the Christian experience |
| st. tHOMAS mORE dEBATE sOCIETY |
•The purpose of this organization is to effectively communicate those ideas, concepts, and analyses which demonstrate the pursuit of Veritatis Splendor and to give the student body of Ave Maria University and opportunity to develop Christ-honoring skills of critical analysis, persuasive speech, enhanced knowledge, and presentation of fluid argument to effectively communicate on the issues to be addressed. |
| Sigma (Audio-Visual Club) |
| To foster and facilitate the interest and talent of students in the field of media, specifically film. The group will be working on videos, either for the University, in conjunction with and for the use of Catholic apostolic clubs on campus, and student-inspired group projects to further experience and familiarity of the students with video-making. |

| Outreach program directed for our neighbors in Immokalee. This outreach serves the community by tutoring in English, assisting with those less fortunate, and working with the community and their needs. |
