Studying Online

Is earning my degree online right for me?

When you pursue a degree online, not only do you have the opportunity to study whenever and wherever you choose, you also have access to numerous resources and support. To be successful, you will need good time management skills and self-motivation, as well as access to a computer and a reliable internet connection. When do classes start?

What programs are offered?

Is there anyone to talk to if I have questions about enrollment or the programs?

Yes, you can get in contact with one of our friendly enrollment counselors should you have any questions. To get in touch, request more information from our admissions department, and an enrollment counselor will reach out to you within a day or two.

How do I enroll and register for an online program?

After you’ve been accepted to Ave Maria University, you can enroll and register for a program’s courses online. You will receive information about how everything works, and your enrollment counselor can assist you throughout the process.

How long will it take for me to complete my degree?

The amount of time it takes to complete a degree depends on degree level and the number of credits you transfer. Typically, our bachelor’s degrees take four years to complete, and the master’s degrees take two years. How do I apply?

Is there an application fee?

No, there are no application fees when you apply for admission online.


Tuition and Transfer Credits

What is the cost of tuition?

We offer a uniform pricing structure for our online programs. To learn more, visit our Cost & Fees page.

Are there any fees in addition to tuition?

Yes, there is a $35 student authentication fee assessed per course.

Is it possible to transfer credits?

Yes, you can easily transfer credits to your degree. We offer a generous credit transfer policy. You can learn more about transferring your hard-earned credits at our Transfer Credits page.


Financial Aid

What is the FAFSA?

The Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) determines your eligibility for financial aid programs, such as loans and grants. The application process identifies how much your family can contribute toward your education costs based on household income, etc. This Expected Family Contribution is subtracted from the Cost of Attendance budget to determine the unmet need.

What kind of financial aid can I get?

After completing your FAFSA, you may be eligible for the following types of federal funding:

  • Federal and state grants, which do not require repayment
  • Federal work study and Florida work experience, which allow you to earn money while taking classes
  • Low-interest loans

Can I receive financial aid every year?

Yes, you can renew your financial aid each year you enroll in online classes with Ave. All you have to do is renew your FAFSA annually and maintain satisfactory academic progress.

Can I receive financial aid for summer terms?

If you have not yet used all of your financial aid for the full year, you can apply the remaining amount toward summer tuition and fees.

How can I use my financial aid to purchase textbooks and/or supplies?

If you are awarded more money than necessary for your tuition and fees, you can use the funds to pay for books or supplies. The bookstore will receive a notice that funds are available and the amount that can be applied toward textbook and supply purchases.

Is there a payment plan available?

Yes, we offer our students the chance to pay for each semester with a monthly payment plan. Payments will be withdrawn automatically from your checking account, credit card, or debit card on the 1st or 15th of each month. There is a $25 fee each semester for the payment plan.

I’m applying for graduate school and need to take the GRE. Is there a discount available?

Yes, the GRE reduction certificate is available to students who qualify through the Financial Aid Office. The certificate provides a 50-percent discount for your testing fee. In order to qualify, you must be a U.S. resident or eligible non-citizen with an Expected Family Contribution of $1,400 or less for dependent students and $1,800 or less for independent students (in your last academic year). Please consult the GRE testing center website for test dates and discount deadlines.


Military and Veterans Benefits

I’m a U.S. military veteran. Can I get any benefits?

Yes, you can apply for veterans benefits by completing an application and submitting documentation to the Office of Academic Records. For more information, visit our Military & Veterans page.

Can I use military benefits?

Yes, you can use your benefits from the Montgomery GI Bill (Chapter 30 and Chapter 1606), Veterans’ Vocational Rehabilitation (Chapter 31), and the Veterans’ Educational Assistance Program if you are a dependent or survivor of a veteran (Chapter 35).

What are my military benefits?

You can find the benefits you qualify for, apply for benefits, and determine which benefits you have selected online through If you need assistance in determining which benefits you qualify for, contact your veterans’ service office.

Can I use my military benefits for textbooks?

If you receive a books and supplies stipend with your military benefits, you may use them for textbooks and other course-related materials.

How do I use my military benefits?

In order to use your benefits, you must apply and submit any required documentation to our registrar’s office at least eight to 12 weeks prior to the start of the semester. After your application and materials have been approved, you will receive GI Bill checks by mail, which you can apply toward tuition. We recommend that you set up a payment plan with the bursar’s office in order to use your benefits for your tuition costs.

Do I have to use my military benefits?

No, it is entirely your choice to use your benefits.
