Law schools are also interested in personal statements and letters of recommendation. Those who intend to practice law must be of good character. Seana Sugrue, D.C.L., pre-law advisor and professor of Politics, recommends that students start to prepare by taking practice LSAT exams to get a baseline measure of how they score, then identify and work on their weaknesses. Three years (96 credits) are taken at AMU and three (90 credits) at AMSL. Undergraduates are qualified for admission under the following criteria: Third year AMU students (juniors) Completed at least three (3) years of AMU coursework * Earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.40 Scored a 152 or above on the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) Remained in good academic and disciplinary standing Met all fitness, character, and other criteria for admission required by the Office of Admission of AMSL *Recommended Majors are Classics and Early Christian Literature, Communications, Economics, Global Affairs & International Business, History, Humanities, Literature, Mathematics, Political Economy ,Government, Politics, Philosophy, and Theology A full tuition Cardinal Newman Scholarship (link to flyer) is offered to qualified undergraduates for all three years at AMSL, plus a $10,000 stipend for living expenses during the first year of law school and an additional $5,000 living stipend for the second year of law school.
