We do not knowingly furnish assistance and facilities for interviewing or other career services functions to employers who discriminate on the bases of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law. Handshake Handshake is Ave Maria University’s 24/7 web based career management system where employers can publicize internships, full-time, part-time, seasonal, and short term positions and other recruiting events. All individuals of organizations agree to follow Handshake Terms of Service and are expected to accurately describe their organizations and position requirements when posting their information on Handshake or when representing their firms and opportunities at any campus-recruiting event. Approved employers will have the ability to: Post jobs, internships, and events Request and manage on-campus interviews Connect directly and AMU students and alumni Access and manage employer account information All employer accounts must include the following on Handshake: Verifiable contact information Matching website and email domain Address that exists, is accurate, and is not residential Company description included in profile Secure and active website provided Mission and practices that do not conflict with Ave Maria University’s beliefs License to conduct business in appropriate state/states Career Services reserves the right to refuse service to organizations and individuals for any of the following: Requirement of personal information such as bank info or social security number during application period Requirement of students to pay fees during the application or other hiring processes Violation of local, state, or federal laws Misrepresentation, whether defined by dishonest information or absence of information Fraudulent company Harassment of Ave Maria University students, alumni, staff, or faculty Breach of confidentiality (student educational records) as required by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Unprofessional profile, with grammatical and spelling errors Multi-level marketing company Home Based Business Failure to adhere to AMU Career Services employer guidelines Any violation of Ave Maria University rules and regulations Complaint by students Third Party Recruiters Third Party Recruiters in Handshake must self-identify as a third party recruiter. Your contact information including email addresses telephone numbers must be included for the organization, and each staff member listed on Handshake. Job postings must be for a single company. The job description must include the company name and that you represent a third party frim recruiting on behalf of the company. Internship and Job Offer Guidelines Ave Maria University Career Services encourages employers who are making offers to Ave Maria University students to become familiar with NACE position on Setting Reasonable Deadlines For Job Offers. Regular communication between the employer and student from the point of offer to the start date is vital. Employers are expected to provide written offers to students and be prepared to exhibit the written offer to the appropriate Career Services staff or faculty member. Students will have two weeks from the written offer to accept or decline the offer. Exploding Offers Employers should not make offers or pressure students to accept offers requiring a quick response time. Students must be allowed the appropriate time (two weeks) to review and evaluate the offer. Employers who engage in exploding offer practice will not be allowed to participate in recruiting programs.
