The Chemistry minor allows students majoring in another discipline to develop familiarity with the chemical sciences. This program consists of six courses covering general chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry. Throughout these courses, you’ll gain hands-on laboratory experience under the guidance of our highly-qualified and experienced chemistry professors.

A Chemistry DEGREE

  1. Thorough Laboratory Experience – Thanks to our small lab sizes, you can expect a more complete laboratory experience with individualized attention and expert guidance from our dedicated professors to help you become the best you can be.
  2. Methods of Scientific Analysis – Through your lab experience, you’ll learn modern methods of scientific analysis and identification. You’ll use these methods to explore, discover, test and experiment with kinetics, chemical equilibria, organic compounds and more.
  3. Mathematical Proficiency – Competence in mathematics is essential for the effective study of the chemical sciences. Before progressing into the higher levels of chemistry and biochemistry available in this program, you’ll complete certain prerequisite courses to gain mastery in physics and mathematics.

  • CHEM 125 General Chemistry I with Lab
  • CHEM 126 General Chemistry II with Lab
  • CHEM 221 Organic Chemistry I with Lab
  • CHEM 222 Organic Chemistry II with Lab
  • 8 credits of CHEM and/or BICM electives (300-level or above)
  • Note that some BICM electives have physics and math courses as prerequisites.
