History graduate accepted for study in the United Kingdom
April 28, 2006

Michael Sugrue, Ph.D., and Colin Barr, Ph.D., are pleased to announce that graduating senior Dan Davy has been accepted for admission in the graduate program in history at the University of Edinburgh. Davy has been accepted into the Masters of Science History program, wherein he will be conducting research in the department of History on the "Scottish Emigration to Eastern Australia." Davy's supervisor will be T.M. Devine, Ph.D., a leading historian in Scotland today. Devine was recently voted "Scotsman of the Year" and his book The Scottish Nation recently ousted Harry Potter from the top of the Scottish best seller list. The University of Edinburgh is widely regarded as the best university in Scotland and possesses the most prestigious History department. Further, the university is one of the top five research institutions in the United Kingdom.

This selection is a great honor for Davy as it recognizes his potential as a graduate student and his success at Ave Maria University. Devine personally accepted Davy as a graduate student with whom he will study during his tenure at the university. The AMU community congratulates Davy, applauds his success and shares in the excitement of having another of its graduates accepted into graduate school at one of the world's leading institutions.
