Dulles to give keynote at AMU conference
January 20, 2007

The Aquinas Center for Theological Renewal at Ave Maria University will be hosting its fourth major conference, titled "Sacraments in Aquinas," February 1-3.
Over 20 guest speakers will be giving presentations at the conference, including Avery Cardinal Dulles, S.J., who will give the keynote address.
Dr. Matthew Levering, associate professor of theology at AMU and one of the conference's organizers, believes that further study of Aquinas' sacramental theology will not only further dialogue among scholars of the subject, but will prove enriching to the larger Catholic community as well.
"In the day-to-day lives of Christians, the sacraments are of paramount importance, and both priests and laity must understand the meaning and power of the sacraments in order for Christian life fully to flourish," Levering said. "As a contemplative theologian, Aquinas saw his task as praising God by exploring, in love, who God is and what God has done for his creatures."
In addition to Dulles, prominent scholars such as Fr. Joseph Koterski, S.J., Dr. Thomas Hibbs and Dr. Reinhard Hütter will be giving presentations at the conference.
