AVE MARIA, Fla. (September 2007) - Ave Maria University (AMU) has been chosen by the Cardinal Newman Society as one of the best Catholic schools in America for undergraduate students to attend college. AMU will be one of only 21 schools featured in the first edition of The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College: What to Look For and Where to Find It, when it hits store shelves on November 1.
"It is an honor to be included in this first edition of the Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College," said Nicholas J. Healy, Ave Maria University president. "Countless people have worked tirelessly throughout the past few years to help physically build this school and develop first rate programs and curricula for our students. We are proud of our adherence to the Magisterium of the Church and we are certainly humbled by this recognition."
In addition to being recognized as a top school for Catholic higher education, the image printed on the cover on the book will feature a photograph of AMU's 2005 graduating class.
According to its Web site, the Cardinal Newman Society conducted two years of extensive research and hundreds of interviews to create the Newman Guide. The 21 schools included in the book were chosen because they have created and foster an environment "where students can reasonably expect a faithful Catholic education and a campus culture that generally upholds the values taught in their homes and parishes."
Each school's profile lists the college's mission, governance, spiritual life, curriculum, residential life and extracurricular programs. For additional information about Ave Maria University, please call 1-239-280-2500 or visit http://www.avemaria.edu/.
