Jeremiah Belocura

Jeremiah Belocura

Name: Jeremiah Belocura

Age:  19

Hometown:  El Paso, TX

Major/minor:  Music/Pre-Medicine

Year: Sophomore

  • Hobbies and Activities:  Piano, violin, acting, singing, photography, hanging out, watching movies, reading about technology, and just having fun!
  • Clubs / Organizations / Sports involved with at AMU:  Student Government, Theater, Cabaret, AMU Choir, Oratory Singers, Men's Chamber Choir.
  • Why I Chose AMU: I chose AMU because of its small familial atmosphere.  I loved that everybody knew everybody and that people from different walks of life came together and could live, play, and pray together.  I loved how much a part of Ave Maria involved a love of Christ and the Eucharist, and that everyone shared a passion for life.  Seeing all this, I wanted to be a part of it.
  • What I like most about AMU: What I like most about AMU is definitely that you can always count on being welcomed and accepted by different groups of people.  You can experience the different aspects of Ave because you can spend time with different people, and it's so great to be able to do that.
  • How would you describe AMU students: AMU students are hard working, although they do know how to have fun.  We share a love of our faith, and yearning for something above average.
  • Favorite thing to do in my free time: Stay in my room and appreciate it.  Being involved in so many time-consuming things, it's nice to be able to just breathe and relax, even if just in my room.  But of course going off campus and spending time with friends is also a great option.
  • Favorite thing to do in Naples: Go to the beach, go shopping, or eat out at one of the many great restaurants.
  • Favorite Class: While it's not an academic class in the traditional sense, I love the different choirs that I'm involved in.  After coming to Ave Maria, I've grown a great appreciation for sacred music, and through choir I can actively participate in this.  As for an actual class, Chemistry is definitely a great class, since it's an interesting subject to begin with and our professor is an amazing teacher who has a lot of knowledge to pass on and is more than happy to do so.
  • Future plans: If all goes well, I plan to attend medical school and become a physician.
  • Ave Maria is:  gratifying!
