Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Jorge Alberto Calvo taught at Williams College and at North Dakota State University before coming to Ave Maria University. He specializes in geometric topology and knot theory. A member of both Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi (the scientific research society) and a fellow of the Mathematical Association of America's Project NExT (New Experiences in Teaching), he received the NDSU College of Science and Mathematics award for Excellence in Teaching in 2003. Dr. Calvo is originally from San José, Costa Rica, and grew up in the Boston area. He holds the degree of S.B. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and both M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
