M.A. in Theology

The Master of Arts Program in Theology seeks to assist students in their intellectual, moral, and religious development towards union with God, the Blessed Trinity. Through natural revelation, God manifests himself in creation to human reason in its natural operations. Through supernatural revelation, He manifests himself in and through this same creation but in such a way as to reveal new, intimate depths of His Being and plan that surpass our natural power of knowing. This divine revelation - received by means of the gift of supernatural faith - is transmitted to us through Sacred Scripture, the living Tradition of the Church, and the authentic Magisterium. Through their courses in Theology - always in a deeply cooperative symbiosis with the perennial philosophy - the students will carefully investigate God and his creation as revealed through faith. The academic formation of the program in theology is directed, although not exclusively, toward the teaching of theology and/or the continuation of theological learning in doctrinal and ethical studies.

The residential schedule offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in a contemplative pattern of study, in accord with the monastic and university traditions of theology as a speculative intellectual discipline rooted in the life of prayer. The strength of this program resides in its excellent faculty and a most intensive scholarly formation of Catholic Master of Arts students in North America.
