Colin Barr, Ph.D. is Assistant Professor of History. Dr. Barr graduated with a B.A. in history from Stonehill College, and an M.Phil. and Ph.D. in history from the University of Cambridge. His research and teaching focus on the political and ecclesiastical history of Britain, Ireland, and the British Empire in the nineteenth century. His most recent publications include Paul Cullen, John Henry Newman, and the Catholic University of Ireland, 1845-65 (Notre Dame, 2003) and 'An Irish dimension to a British Kulturkampf?' (The Journal of Ecclesiastical History, 2005). Dr. Barr is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
