A Sunday Afternoon

I just found out that I am going to have two oral exams during finals week.  I've never had an oral exam before.  Now, I have given oral exams-every three months during the year that I was teaching English in China.  But now I'm on the other side of the desk!  I hope I survive.

It was a good weekend, though not terribly productive with respect to homework.  The apex was the showing of The Human Experience.  One of the producers (Simon Fung) and one of the two main actors (Cliff Azize) came down from New York to do a pre-screening of the film.  Grassroots Films has done some great stuff, and this might be their best work yet.  Check them out.  Right now.

Two seminarians from Miami (Dan and Chuck) came by yesterday for our weekly Communion and Liberation meeting (cf. http://www.clonline.org/).  It happens that Dan was a student here for a couple years before heading to seminary.  We discussed a passage from Luigi Giussani's The Journey to Truth is an Experience, talking about the need to verify the truths of our faith by examining them in the light of our own lived experience within the Church.  It was good...but almost half of the CL members here are music majors, and had to go to sing in a concert halfway through the meeting.  So I went with Dan, Chuck, and a couple others to the café and talked more about living the Faith conscientiously-at seminary for them, and at Ave for us.

After a nice merienda, we went to the concert for a bit, and then they headed out.  And I took a nap.  Sunday rest can be exhausting around here.
