Barry David, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Chair of the department. Before joining the faculty of Ave Maria University, he taught at Ave Maria College, Franciscan University of Steubenville, and St. Anselm College. His teaching and research specializations include Medieval Philosophy, Ancient Philosophy, Metaphysics, and Philosophical Theology. He has publications focusing especially on Augustinian philosophy in the American Catholic Philosophical Quarterly, Augustinian Studies, and Fides Quaerens Intellectum, and is co-editor of Aquinas the Augustinian (Catholic University of America Press, 2007). His current research concentrates on (i) metaphysical themes in the work of Augustine and Aquinas, and (ii) the relationship between Philosophy and Theology. Dr. David holds the degrees of B.A. from the University of King’s College, Dalhousie University; M.A. from Carleton University; and Ph.D. from the University of Toronto (Centre for Medieval Studies).
