Internationally Renowned Tenor Bruce Ford Joins Music Faculty

Bruce Ford, acknowledged internationally as one of the finest singers of his generation, joined the AMU faculty in January of 2014 and presented a master class at the University in the Fall of 2013. Maestro Ford has also been named co-artistic administrator of Opera Naples. His exceptionally demanding repertoire is highlighted by many of the most challenging Mozart and Bel Canto roles, which have brought him acclaim throughout North America and Europe. Ford has appeared frequently at many renowned European houses, such as La Scala, Milan, Bologna, Naples, Genoa, Florence, Amsterdam, Brussels, Zürich and Geneva. He was also a favorite at the Royal Opera House/Covent Garden, the Paris Opera, and the Salzburg, Edinburgh, Glyndebourne, and Pesaro festivals. In America he has won praise at the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Dallas Opera, Minnesota Opera, and San Francisco Opera. His vast and award-winning discography includes the original version of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras for Sony Classics, as well as his critically-acclaimed Opera Rara aria recital Romantic Heroes (featuring works by Donizetti, Mercadante, Meyerbeer and Rossini) which features Mr. Ford in performance with opera superstar, Renee Fleming. AMU in the News: Supreme Court Decision

For more than two years, AMU has been fighting the Federal Government for an exemption to the Affordable Care Act mandate that requires employers provide free birth control to employees. The Supreme Court's decision to rule in favor of Hobby Lobby should only help the University in its lawsuit going forward.

Ave Maria University President Jim Towey was recognized by the Florida State University Alumni Association's
VIRES magazine for his work in bringing to life AMU's Mother Teresa Project and Exhibition Hall. "We think this museum will reintroduce [Mother Teresa] to people and also inspire a new generation to follow in her footsteps," said President Towey, who was recognized on the list of 100 Most Distinguished Graduates compiled by FSU's Alumni Association.
