Biography

Fr. Robert Garrity is Assistant Professor of Theology and Interim Director of Campus Ministry. He holds both a Doctorate in Sacred Theology and a Licentiate in Canon Law. His areas of academic expertise are spiritual theology and canon law. He is the author of O Happy Fault: Personal Growth through Spiritual Progress (New York: Paulist Press, 1994), and he has contributed articles to Studia Canonica and The Jurist. A native of Illinois, Fr. Bob was ordained to the priesthood in 1981 for the Diocese of Rockford, where he served as Vice Officialis on the Matrimonial Tribunal (1989–94), Director of Pro-Life Activities (1992–93), and Pastor of St. Mary Parish in Huntley (1994–2004), prior to joining Ave Maria University in 2004.
