Biography

Bass James Patterson has been praised by some of the most respected critics in the United States and Canada, including Andrew Porter, who called him “a bass to watch — sonorous and beautiful in timbre.” (New Yorker) 

His performing career has taken him to many of the major opera companies and symphony orchestras of the United States and Canada including the San Francisco Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, Seattle Opera, and the New York City Opera, and concert engagements with the Boston Symphony, Seattle Symphony, and Montreal Symphony.

International highlights include "Punch and Judy" with the Netherlands Opera, Peter Sellars’ controversial “Don Giovanni” in France, and concerts in Madrid for the New York City Opera.
