First Year 'ACE'

First Year Students

Academic Center for Excellence

Mrs. Ann Moran

The one stop place for all of your academic services!

The philosophy of the AMU First Year Students "Academic Center for Excellence" (ACE) is based on Developmental Counseling precepts (Crookston) strengthened via Intrusive Advising practices (Heisserer and Parette, 2002). Developmental Academic Advising recognizes the importance of interactions between the student and the campus environment, it focuses on the whole person, and it works with the student at their own stage of development. Intrusive Advising involves intentional contact with students. The goal is to develop a relationship which leads to increased academic motivation and persistence. The result is first year student academic support as a continuous process of clarification and evaluation.
