Filii in Filio (Sons in the Son) – Jesus answered, “The first is, ‘Here, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” –Mark 12:29-31. In response to this word from Jesus, we are striving to make these commandments a part of our lives. Through God’s love, we recognize that we are in communion with each other as his adopted sons. We see in these commands an invitation from God to enter more deeply into communion with Him, first and foremost, as expressing itself in the communion with our neighbors, especially our fellow brothers. We acknowledge the importance of community in growing in holiness, and therefore our household is focused on forming a community of brothers to grow together in the love and service of God.
