What exactly is career planning? Career planning is discovering who you are and what you are meant to do, it is "life work." Career planning is a journey in which you discover the things that you are actually looking for in a career - and it's your next challenge. As with most things in life, you'll get as much as you're willing to put into career planning. At the Career Services Office, we’ll help you decipher just what your college experience means in terms of your career options and choices, and help you along the bumpy road of big career decisions. Career Services works to show you exactly how the workplace today is changing, and what employers look for in hiring new candidates. In addition to preparing you to enter a strained job market, we'll help you to better understand yourself and communicate your goals while discovering what profession fits you best.
The Four Year Plan:
The Career Action Plan (CAP) at Ave Maria University is a four-year program that guides students through a systematic career development process. Highly experiential in nature, the program is based on our belief that work is a "calling," a vocation that gives your life purpose and meaning. Each year of the CAP includes a checklist of suggested activities to develop a student's skills to foster their career readiness.
