Institutional Scholarships and Grants

2012 - 2013 Institutional Scholarships

Institutional scholarships are awarded to incoming, eligible, first-year students and transfer students based on ACT or SAT scores and high school cumulative grade point averages (college GPA for transfer students) ranging from $4,000 to $16,000 per academic year. First-year Freshmen may also qualify for the Catholic High School or Bishop's scholarship of $2,000 per academic year.  In addition, Ave Maria offers the Florida Grant or Out of State Grant in the amount of $1,000 per academic year to first-year freshmen and transfer students.

2011-12, 2012 - 2013  Institutional Need Based "GAP" Grant for First-Year Students

AMU GAP Grant is a need based grant offered to help our incoming, first-year students bridge the gap between federal funding and cost of attendance.  GAP Grant is based on financial need as follows:

  • Students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $5,000  to $9,999  will be awarded $1,500.
  • Students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $10,000 to $14,999 will be awarded $1,000.
  • Students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $15,000 to $20,000  will be awarded $500.

Funding is limited, and will be awarded in order of receipt of the FAFSA, with preference given to those received prior to April 1.  If selected for verification, students will not be awarded until the verification is completed.  Please note that any changes in the EFC as a result of the verification process may result in changes to the Gap Grant.

The GAP grant is renewable based on the student’s annual EFC.  In addition, students will be expected to maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress and remain in compliance with our Student Life discipline policies in order to maintain eligibility for renewal in succeeding years (not to exceed a maximum re-award of three years).  Should any additional grants or scholarships be awarded, it may be necessary to adjust the amount of this particular award as to not exceed unmet need.
